On the occasion of the 11th Ayurveda Day, Brahma Ayurveda had the privilege of a special conversation with Shri Acharya Devvrat Ji, Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat.
The conversation touched upon Ayurveda, Panchakarma, preventive health, natural food, changing food habits and the importance of living closer to nature.
A Healthy Body Comes First
During the conversation, Shri Acharya Devvrat Ji highlighted the importance of a healthy body in fulfilling our personal, social and professional responsibilities.
He referred to the well-known Ayurvedic thought:
“Sharir Madhyam Khalu Dharma Sadhan”
— the body is the means through which we fulfil our responsibilities.
He also mentioned the familiar saying, “Pehla Sukh Nirogi Kaya”, reminding us that good health is one of the most important foundations of a fulfilling life.
Why Preventive Health Matters
According to Shri Acharya Devvrat Ji, Ayurveda should not be looked at only when a person becomes ill.
He spoke about simple principles such as Hit Bhuk, Rit Bhuk and Mit Bhuk — eating suitable food, eating according to the season and eating in moderation.
The idea is simple: instead of waiting for health problems to appear, we should pay attention to our food and lifestyle every day.
His Experience With Panchakarma
Shri Acharya Devvrat Ji also shared his personal experience with Panchakarma.
He explained that many people consider Panchakarma difficult, while his own experience has been positive. He described it as a traditional Ayurvedic approach focused on cleansing and balance.
He also shared that he felt benefits related to lightness, concentration and overall well-being after Panchakarma.
These were shared as his personal experiences and perspective during the conversation.
Are Our Food Habits Changing?
One of the important topics discussed was the growing popularity of junk food and fast food, especially among young people.
Shri Acharya Devvrat Ji expressed concern about changes in food habits and the increasing use of processed and chemically treated foods.
He also spoke about the importance of natural farming and cleaner food choices, encouraging people to reconnect with traditional Indian foods and a more natural lifestyle.
The Importance of Natural Food
According to his views shared in the conversation, food plays an important role in our everyday health.
Rather than depending heavily on highly processed foods, he encouraged people to give greater importance to fresh, natural and traditional foods.
His message was particularly directed towards the younger generation: make healthier food choices and bring traditional Indian food back into everyday life.
Brahma Ayurveda and His Panchakarma Experience
Shri Acharya Devvrat Ji also spoke about his association with Brahma Ayurveda.
He shared that he had been taking support from the Brahma Ayurveda team for Panchakarma during seasonal changes for approximately two to three years.
He also spoke about the importance of the physician-patient relationship.
According to him, what stood out was not only the team's knowledge of Ayurveda but also the dedication and personal attention given to patients.
For Brahma Ayurveda, this part of the conversation carries a message beyond treatment—it highlights the importance of knowledge, dedication, compassion and patient care in healthcare.
He expressed his hope that such efforts continue to help take traditional Ayurvedic knowledge to future generations.
Ayurveda Beyond Treatment
The conversation also brought out a broader thought — Ayurveda is not only about treating illness.
It also focuses on food, daily habits, seasonal routines and maintaining a balanced lifestyle.
He encouraged the Brahma Ayurveda team to continue working with the same dedication towards Ayurveda and to carry this work forward for future generations.
His message also reflected his belief that better health allows people to contribute more actively to their families, communities and the nation.
A Message for Brahma Ayurveda
Towards the end of the conversation, Shri Acharya Devvrat Ji appreciated Brahma Ayurveda’s work and dedication towards Ayurveda.
He offered his good wishes to the team and encouraged them to continue their efforts to promote awareness and trust in traditional Ayurvedic practices.
The Larger Message
The conversation leaves us with a simple thought:
Good health begins with the choices we make every day.
What we eat, how we live and how closely we stay connected with nature can all become part of our approach to well-being.
